Video in a frame: The ImpactV Video digital picture frame

Looking for something pretty unique for the gadget person in your life this holiday? This may fit the bill.

eStarling announced their newest digital photo frame, the ImpactV, should be available on their website soon. What makes this different, you say? Here’s one way: it supports video playback. Hence the name ImpactV (for video).

The ImpactV allows a user to take any video that he or she has recorded and upload it wirelessly to the frame quickly. Since the ImpactV is Wi-Fi enabled, the video will automatically appear with DVD quality video and clear sound anywhere, provided there is a wireless connection. The user can also send still photos.

There are some limitations to this technology. The maximum length for video clip is about 4-5 minutes. It takes a while for these videos to upload too, but a little less time for stills obviously. It’s still a technology that’s being refined really.

The frame is an 8-inch screen with 800 x 600 resolution. It has on board FLASH memory of 512M, and a memory card slot in case you want more, and comes with a remote control. Other features include subscribing to RSS photo feeds, accessing other online video sites and online photo sharing sites like Flickr and Photobucket.

You should be able to purchase the eStarling ImpactV at about $199.99 on their site. Not cheap, but video in a picture frame could be a great gift for any family to relive their memories in a small package.
