Water can’t touch this: The Fujitsu F-01A Phone

fujitsu_fingerprint_phoneHave you ever taken your fancy phone or device to the beach, but are afraid to get it wet, which would sometimes damage it horribly? Well, Fujitsu has the answer for this problem with their new F-01A phone, which is waterproof (more or less).

In fact it’s proudly announced as the very first waterproof, fingerprint enabled mobile phone. That’s a tall claim, indeed, and an exciting one as well. Other stats (from their website) include:

• 3.5″ widescreen VGA touchscreen display
• 5.2 megapixel camera with autofocus
• Built-in GPS with Mobile Google Maps with Street View
• Complies with IPX5 and IPX7 specifications

The phone uses AuthenTec’s TrueNav for the fingerprint feature and for the navigational control, which is kinda like a touchpad. Very neat; it can also be taken up to 3 feet deep of water and still work fine.

This new phone sounds like something that could get Fujitsu back on the map in the mobile phone market, which its been somewhat absent from for awhile now.
