Find the Network: The Wi-Fi Detecting Ballpoint Pen

wifi_penDevices that pick up Wi-Fi networks are pretty cool, especially if you’re a road warrior that carries around a laptop all the time, and don’t want to boot up your trusty ‘puter only to find out there no networks around. There are a few caveats though, as you’ll see below.

It works as an ordinary pen, but the secret is: push a little button on the top, and it tells you the signal strength of the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot (1 LED for weak, all the way to 4 LEDs for strongest), without doing anything else.

The above mentioned caveats: it only detects B/G networks, not N or A. It can’t tell you if its running properly, or if it needs a password. It includes the 2 required cell batteries that help it to function.

If this sounds pretty cool to you, run over to the USBFever site and grab yours for $13.99.
