Max Speed: First USB 3.0 Flash Drive, The Cool Drive U366, Released
The Cool Drive U366 is the very first USB 3.0 flash drive, and it will be produced by PQI. It’s supposed to be one of the fastest USB drives on the planet, and no price named yet, but expect it to not be cheap.
The drive is class all the way, with an all-aluminum outside shell and a clear plastic lid. The speed is where its at though: the Cool Drive U366 will boast a 5Gbps/sec maximum transfer rate, which is more than 10 times the maximum bandwidth potential of USB 2.0.
It also will claim a read speed of up to 97MB/sec, which is also mind-blowing. It’s tiny too, and will be sold in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB storage capacities. We can’t wait to see these hit shelves. More info here.
