Remember in 2008 when we reported on these SSD drives? We’ve come a long way, baby, as the old saying goes.

PhotoFast has announced a slick and (according to rumors, inexpensive) new line of SSDs soon to be released, code-named the G-Monster2 SFV1. Sizes are slated to be 50GB, 100GB, 200GB and 400GB, and these 2.5-inch drives feature built-in NAND memory, a SATA 3.0 interface for blazing speed, an operating life of over 1 million hours and is capable of read/write speeds of up to 260/160 MB per second, respectively.

The company has stated it will start shipping next month for prices to be announced, but expect it to be lower than we’ve seen previously.

For those that yearn for the good old days (but don’t want to give up modern conveniences) there’s these cool flash drives, shaped like those old time folders.

They’re actually designed to look like the little yellow folders on a typical Windows PC system, so the storage is literal, in a sense. Great for “style” points in the office too.

There’s even color choices for those who want a little more variety: the aforementioned gold/yellow color, blue and purple too. These drives were designed by gadgeteer Art Lebedev and come with 4GB of data storage.

These will run you $55 a piece, so they aren’t necessarily the cheapest solution around.

Some of us have 1 or 2 USB gadgets, but then there are those people who have many gadgets that either require or work better with USB connections, and the standard desktop/laptop just doesn’t have enough ports for those fortunate individuals. For those folks, this hub would be a godsend, as its shape and 24 ports should be more than enough for anyone, no matter how addicted they are to USB gadgets.

The design is pretty basic here; no flashing neon lights or cartoon characters, so for those who favor aesthetics, look elsewhere. This is strictly for the heavy-duty USB user; just plug it into your system and you’re all set. It’s compatible with USB 2.0 or 1.1 devices.

It isn’t cheap either: it’ll run you $69.99 at USB Fever. A USB junkie would consider that a bargain, no doubt.

It’s supposed to be one of the fastest USB drives on the planet, and no price named yet, but expect it to not be cheap.

The drive is class all the way, with an all-aluminum outside shell and a clear plastic lid. The speed is where its at though: the Cool Drive U366 will boast a 5Gbps/sec maximum transfer rate, which is more than 10 times the maximum bandwidth potential of USB 2.0.

It also will claim a read speed of up to 97MB/sec, which is also mind-blowing. It’s tiny too, and will be sold in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB storage capacities. We can’t wait to see these hit shelves. More info here.

We love to cover unique USB drives sometimes, and this one is quite unique indeed.

The design looks very realistic, and thanks to the metal casing, the drive is heat, water and impact resistant, which can useful depending on where you plan to use these. It comes in a 2GB memory size, which is decent for most basic data storage needs.

You can get either gold or silver colors, and you acquire these for $19.99 each by going to China Grabber.

Such is the case with the dubbed “Anorexic Mouse”, a cool, slick-shaped mouse debuting in a Japanese shop today.

Archisite has announced this mouse from Suvil, and its official code name is the I-T Click Click 2, and the big difference is that you use a finger and a thumb to operate it. It’s small and slim, with the stats being 35mm x 112mm x 23mm and light too, and includes an 800dpi optic sensor.

This mouse will run you 1,980 Yen or around $21 USD. We’ll see if the design catches on; it’s supposed to be easier on the hands than traditional mice.

For the jokester in all of us, there’s the PC Prankster, a cool (and not cheap) joke to play on an unsuspecting co-worker or friend.

It plugs into a USB port, and you can set a time delay before the computer starts going wild: random mouse movements, random garbage being typed out on the screen, the whole nine yards. Your poor victim won’t know what hit him (until you tell him, waiting enough time for the cold sweats to start).

Now, you’d have to invest a little money in this bit of evilness: The USB PC Prankster sells for £19.99 or $32 USD.

It’s great for any laptop or electronic device that gets hot and needs to be cooled off.

This “cool” stand comes with 2 super-quiet, USB powered cooling fans and can hold up to a 17-inch laptop as well, so its flexible to various sizes, no matter what. Flexibility is the name of the game. If you’re really into bamboo, Brando (another cool gadget company whose stuff we’ve had on here a few times now) even offers a bamboo keyboard and mouse as well for sale.

This style piece is only $35.99 and is available right now.

This is right up your alley: The Mimo Mini USB Monitor.

The Mimo Mini USB Monitor offers a very low-maintenance, low setup way to get an extra display, of sorts.

Just a USB connection from your computer gets you an instant high-resolution secondary display, albeit a smaller one than your usual display. This is great for an IM client, email, spreadsheet, or how about video as well.

It only weighs 1.3 pounds, so its very portable, and since it only connects with a USB cable, there’s almost no setup. We love it, and it starts at $129.99 at ThinkGeek.

This is a pretty cool little gadget: the Whirl Wind Cup, which keeps your coffee or whatever warm using only USB power, and it even stirs the drink lightly for you as well.

It keeps the drink around 80 degrees or so, and since winter is coming, it’s perfect for your favorite tea, coffee or drink to enjoy this holiday season.

You can get ahold of this neato gadget for $37 each, which isn’t cheap for them, but very cool (or warm as the case may be) for someone who spends a lot of time in front of a computer.
