This cool survival device gives you the time, temp, weather forecast, humidity and even what phase the moon will be that day on its digital display, and how about an alarm clock, calendar, compass and LED flashlight in the bargain too; multi-use gadget if we ever saw one. It even includes batteries, and is a great gift for any campers, hikers or whatever outdoor proclivity your loved one enjoys.

Solar power would make this even better, but hey, batteries are pretty light to carry as well. This $24.95 gadget is a wonder for any outdoor lover.

Brando has returned with their latest cool gadget with the Solar-powered Torch, a strong LED flashlight with a small size and infinite rechargeability via the sun.

Measuring 13.0cm x 3.5cm x 3.5cm, the kit comes with 3 400mAh AAA rechargeable batteries, a bright 0.5W LED light, and a solar docking station of sorts to keep the light and recharge it in. It’ll run you $42 to own this light.

Each pair can warm your hands to 148.9 degrees F (roughly 50 degrees warmer than other other gloves out there), and includes a very soft interior and virtually undetectable wires inside as well. More here from the makers:

Other features include: Thinsulate insulation that retains heat better, and an all leather palm for a stronger grip. Works up to 10 hours on a single charge, so they’ll be around when you need them.

Bear in mind, these are not at all cheap; they’ll run you $199.95 for a pair, but your hands will definitely thank you, depending on what part of the globe you inhabit.

The same size as a USB thumb drive, it transmits GPS location info letting you know where they’re at, and even sends you a text message to let you know if they roam outside of a designated area, so you can feel safe knowing they’re where they are supposed to be. It retails for $100 at Best Buy stores.

Japan Trend Shop has begun selling the Water Powered Torch on their website. It seems this gadget uses AA NoPoPo hydrogen-powered batteries (and they’re even included) that can be recharged using beer, cola, or even (god forbid) urine. That’s right, folks. You’ll always have light, no matter what, pretty much.

They’re compact (3.75-inch x 1.08-inch), and the Water Powered Torch is available for $54 USD each.

The lantern is (reportedly) up to 5 times brighter than a gas/kerosene light, and works up to 8 hours on a full charge, which can be achieved using solar power or an AC adapter. It gives 360 degreee light, and is built to be pretty sturdy.

In order to get a complete charge the lamp needs 8 hours of sunlight/light and 4 hours plugged in. On High setting it gives 4 hours of light and the 8 hour figure is on Low, it should be noted.

The lamp sells for only $10, another big selling point.

It’s not designed for big jobs, but it comes in handy for cutting and trimming. Just push the button forward and it’s a bright little LED flashlight, really useful in dark entryways. There’s also a very productive bottle opener for your favorite sodas and microbrews, because we have found most of the best beverages require a bottle opener to enjoy.

All you do is boil water in the base of the coffee maker, then clip it to what is called the brew chamber, that you fill with coffee grounds of your choice.

Then flip the entire thing and it will begin the percolation process, and then 10-12 minutes later, remove the 16oz mug and the coffee is ready to drink. Nice and simple, and travels well for those last-minute camping expeditions.
