It happened to me just recently. Well, these new bands hope to put an eye to that tragedy.

This band looks out for harmful UVA and UVB rays: the UVSunSense band. It lets you know if those rays are present, so you don’t get burned without realizing it. It even tells you when you need to reapply your sunscreen.

Here’s how it works: as you put on your sunscreen, you also put a little of the lotion on the UVSunSense band. It turns purple, but the color fades as the sunscreen wears off. When it has no color, time to put on more sunscreen lotion. I wish I had this the other day before my neck burnt to a crisp.

You can grab a handy 7-pack of UVSunSense bands from Amazon for just $5.87, which is cheap to save your skin.

Ties are seemingly an accessory of modern day male life in the workplace, and they’re usually just dull pieces of cloth that hang there, not doing a whole lot really. Now with iTie, you can actually make that tie work for you. It has a hidden compartment created for small MP3 players like the iPod Nano, but could be used for anything that fits without dragging against your neck. Other uses for this: business cards, credit cards, cash and little cell phones too.

This is a very cool idea that isn’t really a “gadget” per se, but the neatness of this design caught my eye and we wanted to share it with our readers.

You can buy a six-pack of the pockets themselves and they’ll cost you $34.95; these would require sewing expertise, of course. The ready-to-go iTies will run from $35 to about $60, depending on the material and style.

Now they really are using USB connections for anything, and using it in increasingly creative ways. This gadget is a case in point. And the best thing about this one is: it doesn’t have to stay connected to the computer to work.

This pair of USB Cordless Warm Slippers from Thanko retails for $42, and is well worth it for the colder climates – it hooks up via USB to get all toasty, and once they’re charged, just unhook them and they keep your feet nice and warm. Perfect for those chilly winter mornings.

The internal battery is good for a fair amount of time (at least a few hours) before they require you to rehook them to a USB port again. It comes with an LED indicator to let you know when they need more juice, and you can even adjust the temperature to make them just right for your tootsies.

Inside the slippers, you will find an super-thin aluminum heating mechanism being used. And it hooks up via a traditional power outlet as well, so even if your PC is missing, your feet can still stay warm.

Or why not, for that matter? It’s a fleece sweater that tells you on the sleeve (in Fº and Cº) what the ambient temperature is. IT could be useful in certain situations, I suppose.

No pricing details available (or we should say, available on request, which could mean anything), and ship time is estimated at 2-3 weeks. With Fall and Winter coming, it’s a cool comversation maker sort of gadget that very few will have, and that will buy you some “cool” points, to be sure.

The product page is here: Link
