We don’t normally cover phones, but then again, this new Sony Ericsson Satio is more gadget than phone anyway. With a 12MP camera and high-res TFT screen, this is shaping up to be a pretty sweet phone indeed.

More from dialaphone.co.uk, a blog covering cell phones:

At 13mm thick and 126 grams, the Satio maintains a similar size and weight to its rivals, but when you turn the phone on its side, the sliding lens cover bulges out, ruining the smooth and slender frame.

The Satio is one of a pair of new multimedia mobile phones to be released by Sony Ericsson this year, the other being the Aino, and instead of being created to excel as either a camera or a music phone, the Satio does both by havong an excellent camera and a powerful music player. Sliding that lens coveraside reveals the 12.1 megapixel lens, flanked by a video light and a xenon flash, for excellent lowlight performance. Face and smile detection are both onboard, along with Touch Focus, a new feature where a simple tap of the screen sees the camera focus on that spot and capture the picture, so you dont have to centre the viewfinder on your preffered subject. Additionally, tweaks such as image stabilisation, BestPic and a 12x digital zoom are all included.

The touchscreen is a 16 million colour, 3.5? TFT with a resolution of 360×640. An accelerometer controls its orientation and since it’s a resistive item, Sony Ericsson have included a stylus, but instead of building it into the casting it’s supplied seperately on a lanyard. To combat any keyboard issues, the Satio gives the choice of using a small portrait QWERTY keyboard, a larger landscape one or the traditional alphanumeric pad. For dialing, the phone has an easily accessed number pad. Sony Ericsson have overlaid 5th Edition with their familiar icon based, grid format menu – brought to life with the central of the three hardware keys under the screen – where all the features of the phone can be accessed.

As a 3G phone with HSDPA and HSUPA support, the Satio is already well-connected, but when you add in Wi-Fi, A2DP, Bluetooth and assisted GPS, it covers every base.

If ever you’ve wanted a phone to truly double as a camera as well, this might be one for you. No price or immediate availability listed yet, but it should be out by the end of the year.

Perfect for a vacation home or to leave running while you’re away on vacation at your current home, and it looks like a normal (albeit slightly old school) telephone.

It will detect any motion in the room when someone walks past the phone, then it calls the number you have programmed in without alerting the visitor. It then allows you to “listen in” via microphone to whoever is in the house, to determine their intentions. A tad bit paranoid, but hey, you can never be too careful nowadays.

To own the phone it will run you $59.95 from Hammacher Schlemmer. But hey, give this Chinese company credit: they really are trying something different. Witness: the Watch Phone with built-in camera.

Would I rush out and purchase one? Maybe, maybe not, but if you have a friend or loved one with a hankering for fancy James-Bondian gadgets, this may be just the thing to grab.

This phone has a built in 1.3MP camera, and it even tells you the time as well. It also has an FM radio, Bluetooth, an MP3 player and a 1.3″ touchscreen as well, so it’s pretty full featured for a “simple” watch.

You can own it for $137.70 from i-Pmart (it ships from China, so beware higher shipping fees that you may incur).

It’s the Mio Explora K75 phone and GPS navigation device, and it will be launching soon.

This is the successor to their Explora K70 GPS phone line that has proven pretty successful for the company, albeit on a smaller scale. The key to this phone is their built-in Spirit GPS navigation software, which is designed to help you navigate the unknown easily and quickly.

As for the specs itself, this smartphone offers a 3.5-inch display with 400 x 240 resolution, a Qualcomm GPS chipset, a 3MP camera, a VGA secondary camera, a microSD card slot, Windows Mobile 6.1 OS built-in, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3.5G network support.

Pricing and availability are still a mystery, though prices are expected to fall in line with previous models of the phone.

Now there’s a cell phone out there that celebrates this childhood rite of passage.

Alcatel is planning to release a Lego cell phone very soon. The Alcatel LEGO cellphone even includes a really cool feature where various pieces that can be attached and detatched to the phone, allowing you to “create” your own LEGO phone design.

The LEGO phone will come in a basic default config that contains the body and the screen of the handset. Best of all, it’s not just a toy, it’s planned be a fully functional cell phone that will make calls and have all the standard cell phone features.

Alcatel has not released an exact ship date or pricing details yet, but this unique piece of childhood gold should appeal to some out there (and probably not just kids either).

Well, Fujitsu has the answer for this problem with their new F-01A phone, which is waterproof (more or less).

In fact it’s proudly announced as the very first waterproof, fingerprint enabled mobile phone. That’s a tall claim, indeed, and an exciting one as well. Other stats (from their website) include:

•	3.5″ widescreen VGA touchscreen display
•	5.2 megapixel camera with autofocus
•	Built-in GPS with Mobile Google Maps with Street View
•	Complies with IPX5 and IPX7 specifications

The phone uses AuthenTec’s TrueNav for the fingerprint feature and for the navigational control, which is kinda like a touchpad. Very neat; it can also be taken up to 3 feet deep of water and still work fine.

This new phone sounds like something that could get Fujitsu back on the map in the mobile phone market, which its been somewhat absent from for awhile now.

The iRiver WAVE-HOME was definitely one of the cooler devices shown, as it truly brings home the essence of a home internet appliance.

The WAVE-HOME is a home-networking gadget that provides multimedia, internet and phone capabilities. The design is purposefully minimal and slim, with little clutter or wasted space.

The main base has a big 7 inch color LCD touch screen, and connects to your broadband internet (required of course). From here, the user can access all kinds of stuff photos, music and internet related functions.

The handset is set up for VoiP calling, so it can be used like an old-fashioned landline telephone, and even includes a 1.3MP camera to take photos with.

The WAVE-HOME also features a web Widget to provide instant stock, weather and other types of internet updates on the fly. It defines what gadgets like this will be in the future; appliances that operate like toasters or microwaves, without much computer knowledge needed or required.

The iRiver WAVE-HOME should be released for general consumption mid-2009 and will retail for around $400. Not cheap, but we have a feeling it’ll find a willing market among those who just want theit gadgets to work without a lot of setup or configuring.

Some of us even carry two cell phones (one for work, one for another purpose) to add to the mess, and it can get very overwhelming when you return home from a stressful day at work to

Well, here’s the Plug-in-Shelf Cell Phone Charging Station to help ease this clutter, being a convenient new cell phone accessory that plugs into any power outlet that is easy to remove whenever you need to travel. What makes this special is, it does away with the tangles of cell phone charger cord clutter from counters and tables for a much neater and orderly look. No more wires everywhere.

This smart problem solver will place all your cell phones, chargers and cords on a tiny convenient station that is hooked up to a power outlet, where the shelf holds the phone while a cord holder will keep the charging cord away from sight with the unique plug adapter being plugged in your existing charger.

You can pick up the Plug-in-Shelf Cell Phone Charging Station for $12.95 and that price includes free shipping, and it should be available very soon. Read more about it here: Link

Today Motorola announced the Hint QA30, and this may be the breakthrough phone M could be looking for.

This new device is a socially geared one, as this phone offers a myriad of methods for users to keep in touch with their social circles. One glance at it and you’ll think this targets the young and trendy due to the rather eccentric design, featuring a full QWERTY keypad when slid upwards for easier messaging and browsing moments.

Other features include a 2.5? widescreen display, 16MB RAM, a microSD memory card slot, external music controls, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Motorola Hint QA30 will be out sometime later this year, and no price was listed right now.
