The ECCO GPS keychain aims to solve this age old problem:

You’ll be tucked up before you can say ‘I’m sure I turned right at that big tree.’ Cooler still, the ECCO will store up to three locations, so you can find your way back to your remote guesthouse via the pub with a quick pit stop at that kebab shop you stumbled across the night before. Despite its diminutive dimensions, the ECCO utilises the very latest GPS technology. Satellite acquisition time is 30-60 seconds max, and it is accurate to within 10m.

Now that’s accurate, folks! Will it work in underground garages? Not a question that is answered, and one to wonder about. The ECCO will retail for £69.95.

This is the successor to their Explora K70 GPS phone line that has proven pretty successful for the company, albeit on a smaller scale. The key to this phone is their built-in Spirit GPS navigation software, which is designed to help you navigate the unknown easily and quickly.

As for the specs itself, this smartphone offers a 3.5-inch display with 400 x 240 resolution, a Qualcomm GPS chipset, a 3MP camera, a VGA secondary camera, a microSD card slot, Windows Mobile 6.1 OS built-in, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3.5G network support.

Pricing and availability are still a mystery, though prices are expected to fall in line with previous models of the phone.

It uses a 16-channel GPS device to track places, routes and speeds traveled. You attach it to a car using a built-in magnet for secrecy purposes, storing locations on its memory, up to 100 hours of driving data.

Just remove it from the car and plug it into your PC’s USB port, and special software displays all the data to you. It can be used with Google Earth for very exact location info. Two AAA batteries provide 3 weeks of operation, and if it detects a car is stopped, it enters sleep mode.

It retails for $229.95, but it may be worth it for the peace of mind it may bring a worried parent (or suspicious spouse for that matter, for a whole other use for the product).

The Navigon 8100T has a fascinating feature called the Panorama View 3D. This Panorama software uses NASA terrain data, so you will see real 3D landscapes, instead of the flat graphical maps associated with Garmin, Tomtom and the like. How this would apply and be useful in real life isn’t clear, but it is cool.

The Navigon 8100T PND also has other features including address entry (voice), full text-to-speech functionality, and Bluetooth compatibility. There is also lifetime free real-time traffic built in as well, all complimented with a large 4.8 inch touchscreen LCD, one of the biggest on any GPS device.

It seems to be one of the coolest GPS devices out there, and you should be able to pick it sometime later in November for about $599 SRP (probably $400-500 street price or so).
