The device “adapts” its shape to landscape or portrait orientation quite easily, and you can also set the screen to whatever position you like for optimal reading and viewing. It folds perfectly flat for easy carrying and for travel purposes.

The Sharper Image Rotating Speaker System should be up for purchase on October 15, here for example,for $79.99, which isn’t a terrible price for something pretty slick and useful.

It’s created with 100% recycled cardboard, and its simple and fire-retardant and quite druable. No screen coverage, but hey, its a recession after all, what do you expect?

Laying around the pool, one gets an urge to listen to music sometimes. Well, this one is suited perfectly for lounging in the pool, as this speaker floats along the water next to you, so you don’t have to get out to adjust the volume. Just add friends and some good food/drinks and you’re all set for party time.

It does use Bluetooth, so an MP3 player with Bluetooth built-in or a phone with MP3s on it (an iPhone for example), and the device has to be within 30 feet of the speaker. If that phone gets a call, it’ll just shut off the music while you chat.

This particular model will be announced at CES and won’t be out for a few months, but they’ve released a few tidbits about the gadget that perked our interest.  One great feature is that  iMM183 can charge both an iPhone and iPod at the same time (a 4th Gen or later iPod required).

The dual dock system is useful if you have a significant other as well; you charge both devices at the same time. The dock has the regular features like a built-in alarm clock and is able to play your i-Gadget through the built-in speaker system.

It should also work with any other devices you have laying around as well. It can even tell you the weather: it includes support for weather text alerts from NOAA and SAME that will automatically display on the preset radio channels, and has an LED to show when there is a new alert to read. Very neat indeed.

No word on price, but it’ll come out around March or so. Cream of the crop for Apple i-device docks in our eyes.

A lot of the companies selling accessories have started to attempt to think outside of the traditional “box”, and some odd ones have shown up too. However, this one actually makes sense to me. Many people use a nightlight in a hallway or room to brighten up the area during late night restroom trips, so why not combine that utility with a charger for your most prized gadget, the iPhone/iPod?

Useful multi-function devices are good, and so this one hits the sweet spot. You can pick up the night light/charger gadget for $39.99 at their website. Not cheap, but for something that tries to go outside the box and hits the target, it’s worth the price tag.
