For those that yearn for the good old days (but don’t want to give up modern conveniences) there’s these cool flash drives, shaped like those old time folders.

They’re actually designed to look like the little yellow folders on a typical Windows PC system, so the storage is literal, in a sense. Great for “style” points in the office too.

There’s even color choices for those who want a little more variety: the aforementioned gold/yellow color, blue and purple too. These drives were designed by gadgeteer Art Lebedev and come with 4GB of data storage.

These will run you $55 a piece, so they aren’t necessarily the cheapest solution around.

This is right up your alley: The Mimo Mini USB Monitor.

The Mimo Mini USB Monitor offers a very low-maintenance, low setup way to get an extra display, of sorts.

Just a USB connection from your computer gets you an instant high-resolution secondary display, albeit a smaller one than your usual display. This is great for an IM client, email, spreadsheet, or how about video as well.

It only weighs 1.3 pounds, so its very portable, and since it only connects with a USB cable, there’s almost no setup. We love it, and it starts at $129.99 at ThinkGeek.

Now that’s changed with the bright red Ion USB Portable Turntable.

It will work with a Mac or PC and all it needs is a USB connection to power up and work, so it saves electricity too. Vinyl has always been popular among the audiophiles, and with this new gadget, you can carry that joy easily with you anywhere you like.

Its small, measuring about 20” long by about 17 inches wide by about 6 inches high. It is not cheap though; you can grab it for $140 from Urban Outfitters.

That’s why this gadget is pretty useful indeed; a USB Air Purifier that also looks like an attractive plant pot too.

The manufacturer even allows the possibility of putting real plants in the pot, so the electronics required for the air purifier are well protected, you’d assume. Unless it’s a scheme to get you to buy more because they break.

It also has a blue night light with 3 LED lights in it that is controlled through an on/off switch on the gadget itself for added convergence, which we always like. The purifier uses a carbon filter to clean the air, so it does multiple somewhat useful things at once.

You can grab the Flowerpot USB Air Purifier for $29.90 from Gadget4all.

It’s an idea that you’re a little shocked no one came up with sooner. It’s the Octopus USB Hub, and it’s for sale right now.

It contains 4 USB connections, all at the end of little flexible “legs” for ease of connecting and coolness, and the little faces of the octopus is simply adorable, to add a little character to the mix. It comes in 3 different colors (pictured here), though at last glance, the purple was sold out, so you may have to wait on that one.

You can own your octopus hub for only $10 on Gadget4all.

It’s small. Tiny. Miniscule, in fact. One of the smallest flash drives we’ve seen, and better yet, it holds a lot of data. 16GB, to be exact.

The 5mm Buffalo Thumbkey flash drive is now available for purchase and should be the perfect companion for a netbook, laptop, or any standard computer for that matter. Now this type of mini-mass storage isn’t going to be cheap: they’re going to sell for $136 each, and come in a few different colors.
